Introduction

Long tracking URLs are awkward in printed material, text messages and social posts, and a QR code is often the easiest way to get a link onto a poster or slide. The URL Shortener & QR tool creates short links through the TinyURL service, falling back to is.gd if TinyURL is unavailable, and renders a QR code for each result. Because shortening relies on those third-party services, the address you enter is transmitted to them; the history list, however, is stored only in your browser.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Stay on the Single URL tab and paste the link into Enter your long URL, or use the paste-from-clipboard button beside the field.
  2. Click the shorten button; the result card shows the short link, which service created it, and the original URL.
  3. Click Copy to grab the short link, or QR Code to reveal the image and Download QR PNG to save it.
  4. For several links, open Bulk URLs (up to 10), paste one URL per line, click Shorten All URLs and wait for the progress bar to finish.
  5. Click Download CSV to export the bulk results, and use Recent History at the bottom to copy earlier links or Clear all to wipe them.

Key Use Cases

  • Print and signage: Shorten a landing page link and download its QR code for a flyer.
  • Campaign batches: Shorten up to ten tracked URLs at once and keep the CSV with the original mappings.
  • Quick sharing: Reuse a link from Recent History without shortening it a second time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which service shortens the link and is my URL private?

The page posts the URL to the site's own API, which first tries TinyURL and, if that fails or times out after eight seconds, tries is.gd with the same timeout. The result card shows which provider was used. The URL is therefore shared with that provider, and the QR image is fetched from an external QR service, so this tool is not browser-only.

What are the limits in bulk mode?

Bulk mode accepts at most 10 URLs per run, one per line, and shows an error if more are entered. Each URL is sent in sequence with a short pause between requests, and any that fail are listed with an Error label while the rest still succeed. Only http:// and https:// addresses are accepted.

How does the history work and can I delete it?

Successful links are saved to localStorage in your browser, capped at the 20 most recent, with duplicates of the same short URL collapsed. Recent History shows how long ago each was created. Clear all asks for a second click to confirm, then removes every saved link from this browser only.
